Skydive Australia is owned by ASX listed company Experience Co. They offer a range of incredible adventure activities across Australia and New Zealand and their mission is to help you escape the ordinary.
The pressures of the Australian Bushfires of 2019/2020 and ongoing impacts of COVID-19 have resulted in an increase in mental health issues in Australia. The tourism sector was particularly affected, taking a significant toll both physically and mentally which has resulted in mental health being one of the major concerns facing employers. Since the start of the pandemic, John O’Sullivan, CEO for Experience Co. cites a marked increase in the use of their Employee Assistance Programme due to the pressure caused by these events.
As a result, Experience Co. connected with Black Dog Institute with a collaboration proposal to effect change and increase awareness of mental health issues, and ‘CEO Skydive for mental health’ with Skydive Australia was born. The inaugural ‘CEO Skydive for mental health’ took place in April 2020 at Skydive Australia’s Wollongong drop zone.
With Skydive Australia, this partnership has enabled Black Dog Institute to create more awareness about mental health, as well as raise critical funds for our research and programs that reduce the incidence of mental illness and suicide.
