How do I register?

When does registration close?

Entries will close once the event sells out. If the event has not sold out, there will be limited entries available on event day. Enter here now to avoid disappointment and to save $$.

What do I get for my entry fee?

What time does the event start and finish?

The event starts at 8am sharp and finishes at 1pm. You need to be onsite by7.30am for a safety briefing and to see Michelle Bridges launch the event!

What happens if I don’t reach the minimum fundraising target of $100?

With the friendly support of the Black Dog Institute fundraising team, you are sure to reach your goal. The fundraising target is very achievable and although we do not take funds from your account or invoice you, we do expect that you will meet this modest target by event date. If you do not reach the goal, this will unfortunately make you ineligible for any rewards and we will not be able to allow you to join future Black Dog Institute fundraising walks.

Are there any age restrictions for the event?

Due to parental consent requirements, the event is open to participants aged 16 years and over. Children are welcome to accompany their registered parents as long as an adult is supervising them at all times. 

Are there rest stops on the course?

Yes! Please view the course map.

Do I have to finish the course?

No. If you feel you have walked enough, please make your way to the village at Church grounds where you can relax at any time.

Do we need to finish by a certain time?

Yes, you need to finish within 5 hours, most will complete the course in 3-4 hours.

How long is the course?

The course is either 5kms or 10kms long, and you will travel the same course twice to reach 10km. Visit the course map

Does my entry fee go towards people living with mental illness?

Your entry fee supports the costs of staging the event. We rely on you to raise much-needed funds for Black Dog Institute. All funds raised by walkers will support Black Dog Institute’s vital education programs. Find out more here.

What is the dress code?

Sporty, fun, colourful - or any athletic gear that you feel comfortable in.

Can I wear thongs or sandals?

No, all participants must wear closed toe shoes for safety, such as trainers/sneakers.

Where does the walk start and finish?

The walk starts and finishes at Church Grounds. See course map . Look out for the big white marquee with the Black Dog Institute logo on the roof and sides.

Where can I park and what about public transport?

Enter Centennial Park via the Darley Rd entrance. This is accessible for drivers and pedestrians. See map here

Buses run from Central Station to the park and from Bondi Junction station. Plan your route here. There is free parking on site, however we recommend arriving early to gain a place. Further paid parking is available at the Entertainment Quarter or the Hordern Pavilion. Find out more here.

I can no longer participate. Can I get a refund?

Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

What happens if it rains?

Participants should be prepared for all weather. The event goes ahead rain or shine, unless there is a significant danger to participants because of poor visibility, lightning, storms or strong winds. If this occurs, a notification will be posted on our website, an email sent to your email address and an SMS sent to your mobile.

Can I bring my dog?

No. Despite being called the Black Dog Institute, the event is not pet-friendly. The only animals on the walk will be the native wildlife that lives in Centennial Park.

Will there be alcohol at the event?

No, this is an alcohol-free event.

Will there be food at the event?

Fruit and water will be provided along the route and at the finish site. You may like to bring your own snacks.

Where can I leave my belongings?

We suggest bringing only what you need for the event- a small backpack, water, snacks, lightweight raincoat or poncho. We do not have the space for you to leave your belongings at registration.Please try to carry only what you need.

What if I’m running late?

The event starts at 8am sharp and you need to be on site at 7.30am for a safety briefing. If you are not at the site and ready to go at 8am, you will not be able to participate.

Is the route wheelchair accessible?

Yes. Some of the route is off-road. You can make the choice to travel on the track if you are using a wheelchair or stick to the Grand Drive.

What should I bring?

Water bottle (water will be provided)
Waterproof jacket

Can I run?

For the safety of all participants, this is a walking event only.
