Seamus Marron Memorial Game
Earlier this year, we unfortunately lost a former player and supporter of our club named Seamus Marron to suicide.
Seamus was in his mid-30’s, with a wife and two young children and had been struggling with mental health issues (discretely) for a number of years.
The Marron family are a very well-known family at our club and in the northern suburbs.
We came up with the idea to create an Annual Memorial game to raise awareness (and some money for) Mental Health against Para Hills.
We plan to hold the event on 12th February 2022 and as part of this day, we thought it would be a good opportunity to create a past players game, Elizabeth City v South Australia as a curtain raiser to the 1st team game.
To date, we have been able to secure the support of:
- Black Dog Institute
- Angle Vale Tavern
- Angle Vale Shopping Centre
- Adelaide United FC
- Bloom Media Australia
- Football SA
- Belgravia Sports
- Rite Price Heating & Cooling
- Mr. Stormwater
- Complete Tanks & Pumps
- Johnstone Glass Services
- Barossa Auto Group
- Eastern Building Group
- Northside Trophies
The Day
The Legends game will attract an array of past stars including many Adelaide United and past South Australian football stars including Cassio, Marcus Flores, Iain Fyfe, Travis Dodd, Marcelo Carrusca, Jason Trimboli, Simon Catanzaro, Scott Tunbridge to name a few and will be coached by former Socceroos Damian Mori and Joe Mullen.
The Elizabeth City team will be coached by Centrals legend Roy Laird and will feature former Elizabeth players and close mates of Seamus.
We expect the event to attract around 2000 people with many local clubs extremely supportive of the concept already.
There will be food trucks, kids activities and stalls on site which will help create a carnival atmosphere with Dom Rinaldo hosting the event with Mark Aiston as the Guest Speaker.
Our main aim is to raise Mental Health Awareness while providing an event that will raise money for the Black Dog Institute.
Any help you can assist with would be great!!
