We’re teaming up with Black Dog Institute to create a movement and turn ground-breaking research into life-saving action; Walk, run or ride with us this June to raise awareness for mental health conditions affecting our veterinary industry.
The veterinary profession is an extremely rewarding one, however, Australia’s veterinary industry is plagued with high rates of burnout, stress and negative mental health outcomes.
Too often, we’re so busy looking after the community’s animals that we forget to look after ourselves. The likelihood of experiencing a mental health condition is 5% higher and suicide rates four times greater in the veterinary profession than in the general population. High pressure, work-life balance and social and ethical challenges are key contributors to negative impacts on mental health and wellbeing.
Whoever and wherever you are, pull on your socks and sandals, shoes or cleats and grab your pet or significant other (or simply donate) and join the movement to support a mentally healthy veterinary industry.
