Mullet for Mental Health
On July 6, I will be getting a mullet and growing it until the end of September. This is to raise awareness for the impacts of mental health on individuals and the people around them, also starting the conversation of normalising the process of people getting professional assistance with their struggles so it doesn't eventuate into a dire situation. Personally, I've seen the impacts of what poor mental health can have on a person and the ripple effect into a family and even the community.
Mental illness affects 1 in 5 Australians every year, with the most common being depression and anxiety and only 60% of those people seek professional help. Mental illness doesn’t discriminate. It affects people from all walks of life — individuals, families, workplaces and communities.
Watching mental illness unfold and take over someone life I do not recommend to anyone. I hope by spreading awareness and raising money, organisations such as The Black Dog Institute can do further research into mental illness and make the world a more mentally healthy place.
Any donation will be great small or large!
