With a population of just between 4-5 million people, New Zealand has the largest amount of youth suicides in the world. A couple of months ago the New Zealand government announced a sudden stop in funding towards the Gumboot Friday charity. For those who are not familiar with this charity, they provide free counselling for kids in need. With New Zealand having the highest rate of suicide in the world this breaks my heart to hear. In Australia 1 in 5 people are diagnosed with mental health or behavioral condition. At the start of the year, I sadly lost a mate to suicide. I know countless other mates and family who struggle with their mental health.
