I'm standing up to join Team Black Dog to turn ground breaking research into life saving action.

Mental illness affects 1 in 5 Australians every year, with the most common being depression and anxiety. Mental illness doesn’t discriminate. It affects people from all walks of life — individuals, families, workplaces and communities.

Recently I have been researching and investing my time learning about the consequences of people living with ill mental health, particularly in our young people aged between 8-25.  About three-quarters of common mental health problems emerge before the age of 25 years old. In fact, in Australia, suicide is the leading cause of death for people aged 5-17 years old. 

It is critical that we as a community empower our young people to reach out for help. By providing safe and supportive environments, we are increasing the opportunity to save lives and create a positive world. 

How can you contribute? I will be donating the funds raised to the Black Dog institute and their youth research programs who are striving to prevent the onset of anxiety, depression and psychological distress in young people.
