FIGHT POSTPONED

Sunday 11th Jul
Fight has been postponed
235 days ago I lost my Dad to Suicide.
.
174 days ago I decided I wanted to do more, I wanted to help the world become
Mentally healthier with Black Dog Institute and I wanted to challenge myself on all sides.
Mentally, Emotionally and Physically.
.
140 days ago I stepped wayyy out on my comfort zone and onto the mats at SBG Australia at Liechhardt and started my 20 week MMAWimp 2 Warrior Program.
.
Now 140 days ago I thought I’d be waking up today very sore from my first MMA Fight.
But that was not the case!
Covid stopped me from doing this program last year and stopped my Dad from coming to watch.
And now covid has stopped me from my fight.
After 20 very emotionally weeks of ups and downs and more downs, to finally think I was as ready as I could ever be to have a fight!
Covid hits again and something I have been preparing for mentally, emotionally and physically was taken away and I felt a massive loss inside of me and I felt lost.
I was so set on this fight to bring everything I have into that Octagon.
And to have that taken away even though it has been postponed.
Felt like I have done it all for nothing, felt like I failed, felt like I let my dad down.
And I know none of that is true, but it is very hard to tell my brain otherwise.
But since Thursday when I found out the fight was postponed.
I just wanted to quit, I wanted to eat all the foods, drink all the vodka and cry.
But instead of that, I treated myself to some yummy food, no vodka, I did cry but I also got up everyday, walked the dogs and worked out.
Because for me it’s a way to tune  the world out and remind my brain what is real and what is not!!
But I wouldn’t of gotten up without all the messages and love I have received from everyone.
Thank you for all the messages of support and the reminders of WHY I started this in the first place.
Lastly.
Thank you Kelly Gilbert. Thanks for making me get up everyday for the last 21 weeks.
Thanks for meal prepping with me.
Thanks for reminding me that what I’m doing is bigger than just me.
Thanks for holding the pads,
And for reminding when I’m down of how proud Dad would be of me.

When your WHY is big enough the how will come

Wednesday 20th Jan
When your WHY is big enough, the how will come!

My Why is my dad.
My lost my dad to suicide on the 4th of November 2020.
When you ask people about my dad Wayne, they’d say he was always smiling even if he was in trouble and he would be the first to buy you a beer or come and fix something that was broken. Well he’d try to fix it.
When you’d ask him how he was, he’d respond everyday is a good day when your breathing.

My dad battled mental illness on his own for many years without anyone knowing.

Losing my dad to suicide has been the hardest thing I have had to go through. Mentally, physically and emotionally, it has pushed me to my limits and I have had so much support helping me through.
But not everyone has that support or sometimes they don’t know how to ask for help.

So I’m raising much needed funds for mental illness.
From the 1st of February I will be starting my 20 week mixed martial arts training with the Whimp to Warrior program.
I’m doing this because last year I wanted to complete the program and my Dad backed me 100% to do it and was so excited to come down and watch my fight at the end.
Due to covid the program was suspended.
So I have decided I want to do it to honour him and challenge myself like never before.
My dad was always the one to push me and tell me to always work hard.

So during this program I will be setting myself challenges weekly from how much money is donated.
For every dollar I will complete a challenge.
$100 donated in a week could be 100 push ups or 100 sprawls, it will be a different challenge every week.

So please donate and help raise awareness for mental illness.

No one is immune to mental illness.
So please be kind and remember
Together We Can Achieve More.

Also if want to see a certain challenge completed, donate and put it on your donation comment.
