Mullets for Mental Health Fenner Hall
one in every five australians experience symptoms of mental illness annually. i am one of them, and believe me, it’s not fun. suicide is currently the leading cause of death in australians aged between 15-24, with over 65,000 people attempting suicide across the country every year.
but it’s not just those 65,000 that are impacted. it is estimated that approximately 135 people are impacted by a single suicide attempt, whether they be family, friends or members of the community. however, i believe that this number is significantly higher. there is no way to measure the continuous impact of such a tragic event.
mental illness has no one and done cure, but mental health research goes a long way towards understanding them and learning how to live with one. to help with this, i’ll be getting a very questionable fresh cut with some of my lovely peers at fenner hall to raise money for the black dog institute. every dollar and cent raised will go towards this crucial mental health research, as well as funding support services for australians affected by mental illness and suicide.
this is a cause that is extremely close to my heart, so it would mean the absolute world if you could donate. thank you for reading :)
