Welcome to my fundraising page for the Black Dog Institute as I embark on my first Half Ironman (70.3) on November 10th!  

Movement for me has always been a form of therapy serving me through my teens and twenties, however this year I have taken the scary (but necessary) step of seeing a professional to look after my mental well-being. 

The stigma of physical vs. mental wellbeing is real, it takes a lot to start just like that first 5km run or 20 push ups as a kid but it’s something I’m working on and willing to improve on for myself and those around me. 

This journey so far has helped me tackle the hidden trauma that a lot of us carry (for me that was both as a child and early adult) the neglect I gave this trauma saw it take shape in many forms, to which I’m continually working on. 

This process has been harder than the physical training itself, the level of vulnerability and need to let go of your ego was something I wasn’t ready for but in this time, I have grown in ways I didn’t think I needed or could. 

I’m hoping through the journey of training my mind and body for this event can raise awareness around the importance of looking after your mental health for anyone on a similar path, and for them to know that your mental wellbeing is as accessible to improve as your physical.
