Angie's birthday fundraiser

Help me make it meaningful

Hey friends ❤️

For my birthday month I'm running a fundraiser for one of the causes I care a lot about. Mental illness affects 1 in 5 Aussies each year and the impacts are invisible and devastating for those living with it as well as their loved ones around them.

This is a cause near and dear to me as it has impacted both my life and the lives of my loved ones in a big way. While you're at it, I highly encourage you to learn more about mental health illnesses, its symptoms, and its impacts so you can feel better equipped to have open and judgement-free conversations with your loved ones. If you are struggling - please reach out for help. If you know someone who is struggling, but don't know what to do - please reach out for help.

Remember that you don't need to wait to be formally diagnosed with a mental illness for you to take care of your mental health. It could be stress from work, drama in your relationships, or just feeling overcommitted and burnt out.

Please consider donating to the Black Dog Institute since the money will go towards much needed funds for mental health research and support services to help Australians impacted by mental illness.

To close out, here's one of my favourite resources which made me feel really seen - it's a book called I Had a Black Dog by Matthew Johnstone. Also linked is the video narration of the book.

WE SMASHED IT!

Tuesday 3rd Oct
We absolutely smashed the goal, thank you so much to everyone who took the time to have a look at my fundraiser and a special thank you to all who donated.

On a side note, I personally had a wonderful birthday full of love and surprises. Between a birthday dinner with my best friends and family, to surprise cake with my family in Bowral, to a surprise birthday party, to a Sydney trip to see Wicked - it's been an unforgettable few weeks and smashing the record is the perfect way to close out the month.

Please remember mental health is important every day and not just for special fundraising events - please take good care of yourselves and your loved one.

Love,
Angie

1 week in!

Thursday 7th Sep
I am absolutely blown away by everyone's support - I will be sending out personal thank you's but I am already so grateful for the support my fundraiser has received both in contribution as well as people reaching out to chat to me about the initiative and services which Black Dog offers.

Love you all very much, 3 weeks to go! To celebrate already reaching halfway - I've uploaded a collage of some of my my favourite memories and people (and cat). More to come!

Love,
Angie
