Mental illness doesn’t discriminate – it affects 1 in 5 Australians every year with symptoms like anxiety and depression. The impact can be devastating, as I've discovered in the past couple of years, when my anxiety became more severe and impacted on almost every area of my life. I experienced panic attacks and felt like a deer in the headlights at times; frozen and struggling to perform in the workplace - and keeping a low profile away from work. My self-belief was shot, and it was only the quiet encouragement of a few valued regulars that gave me the confidence to contemplate beer tastings again.
That’s why I thought I would see if I could raise a few dollars for the Black Dog Institute. Every dollar raised will support crucial mental health research and support services that help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.
