I'm shaving my head on Christmas Day!

Everyone knows someone who is struggling with mental health and a lot of us have lost loved ones because of it. I have seen far too many beautiful, loving, talented people lose passion for who they are because they couldn't get the help they needed. This needs to change.


Mental illness affects 1 in 5 Australians every year, with the most common being depression and anxiety. Mental illness doesn’t discriminate. It affects people from all walks of life — individuals, families, workplaces and communities.


So, why shave my head?
Those who know me know that I am no stranger to dying my hair crazy colours and shaving parts of my head.

Shaving all my hair off is a big deal.

Mental health is a big deal.

My goal of raising $1500 for Black Dog Institute could save a life. That's a big deal.

I am absolutely blown away by the support that everyone has provided for this cause!

Because of your help sharing and donating, Black Dog Institute have helped facilitate 1,539 patients being treated in our clinics, 71,858 registrations for our mental health apps, 150+ scientific journal articles being published, and 88 lived experience volunteer presenters in 6 states. None of this would have been possible without the amazing family, friends and even strangers that have donated. Thank you!

This Friday, all my hair coming off! I will be live on as many platforms as I can so that you can watch it all happen! I will update soon with more details! :D

Time to up the goal again!

$2,500 and I will dye the orange ends of my hair RED AND GREEN for all of December!

This money is already going a long way to helping the Black Dog Institute make real changes that will help the individual. Did you know they are in the process of developing an app that will teach someone how to break out of those unhealthy mindsets? They are in the testing faze and they will continue developing real tools to help real people.

I did not expect how quickly everyone would help me reach my next goal! Not even two whole days and I had to rush out and buy hair dye!! I cannot overstate how grateful I am that my friends and family have been so supportive in helping my raise money for this amazing cause! I will update soon with the next goal :D

I'm so grateful to every single person who has donated and shared my posts and helped me reach my goal so quickly!! Why stop now? When I have so much support around me I want to use that to help those who need their own support. So I've upped my goal! The day I reach $2000, in the spirit of the Black Dog Institute AND in the spirit of Halloween, I will dye the ends of my hair BRIGHT ORANGE!! So if you want to see me disappoint my hairdresser by dying my hair badly at home (sorry Ellie) or you want to help make treatment for mental illness more available, please donate or share my cause!

Wow! I have reached my goal and there's still two months until December 25!
I am so grateful for the amazing support I have around me. To everyone who has donated, thank you so much, you have made a huge difference to those in need...

This is what you have made possible:

  • More health professionals trained in mental health and more effectively treating their patients with symptoms of poor mental health.
  • Increased understanding in the community about mental health issues, illnesses, signs and symptoms.
  • Reduced stigma toward mental health in the community, encouraging people to share their feelings and talk about mental health issues.
  • Increased levels of help seeking among communities and in particular in young people.
  • Increased access to information and resources about mental health and wellbeing. 
  • Lower rates of depression and anxiety in the community.
  • Ultimately, prevention of the development of serious, life-limiting mental illness in young people.

Not even two whole days and I'm already halfway to my initial goal! I cannot believe the amazing support I've received from friends and family.
