Quit smoking

Help me make it meaningful

Mental illness doesn’t discriminate – it affects 1 in 5 Australians every year with symptoms like depression and anxiety - and even worse. The impact can be devastating, not only for those living with it, but for those around them.

That’s why I’m giving up one of my favourite guilty pleasures to support the Black Dog Institute. Every dollar raised will support crucial mental health research and support services that help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

Help me create a meaningful moment for mental health as I test my resolve, all for a great cause.

Please donate now. Thank you.

An empty house

Saturday 16th Mar
Emergency packet now gone! Although quitting is challenging (not quitting is harder), I’ve managed to maintain being about 99% smoke-free using nicotine replacement therapy.

It’s funny, the urge to smoke is decreasing at the times when I would want one the most. I’ve now got a clean car, an empty ashtray and I don’t worry about what I smell like when I come back after sneaking away for a ciggie. I will be 100% transparent and say that I’ve slipped once or twice (need to get rid of the ‘emergency’ packet) but even then I just get straight back on the horse and keep going. I’ve got plenty of distraction and other things I can do and I’m not really missing them at all.

Friday 15th Mar
So it’s been nearly 48 hours since I’ve been smoke free (minus one slip of a very cheeky puff which I did not enjoy at all). I’m not really thinking about too much or having that many cravings…just hope I don’t get nicotine poisoning from all the stop-smoking aids! lol

Today I will walk to keep myself grounded and continue another day without the cancer sticks!

Countdown begins!

Tuesday 12th Mar
It’s my last day before I give it up! Nervous and excited and have plenty of replacement therapy to get me through! Cannot thank you all enough for your kind donations. Wish me luck!
