Help me make it meaningful
Last year I was set to complete my first full length Ironman race at the Cairns 2024 event.
An endurance event that consists of a 3.8km swim, a 180km bike ride and a finishing up with a full length marathon bring 42.2km.
3 weeks out from this race I was hit by a car on a training ride which resulted in needing a shoulder reconstruction.
Safe to say this not only fucked me up physically but it took a toll on my mental health. Hours upon hours of training, tears, early starts, cold mornings, pitch black runs in the rain and pushing myself to do more even when I didn’t want to. All out the window so close to the event day, which (and I hate to admit) turned into sitting at home drinking and eating my prescriptions trying to spiral and feel like I just lost.
2025 I’m coming in hot for a redemption story.
Training has begun and it’s time to put myself through the ringer once more to get shit done while raising money and awareness for mental health and teaming up with Black Dog institute to support crucial mental health research and support services that help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.
Mental illness doesn’t discriminate – it affects 1 in 5 Australians every year with symptoms like depression and anxiety. The impact can be devastating, not only for those living with it, but for those around them.
