Outriding the Fog

Help me make it meaningful

Outriding the Fog

At age 48, I was diagnosed with Complex PTSD.

Like many people, I spent years functioning professionally while struggling privately.

Motorcycling, remote travel and time in nature have become important parts of my own recovery journey. They have provided space to think, reflect, reconnect with purpose and find moments of clarity during difficult periods of life.

In 2026, I will undertake a solo motorcycle journey across some of Australia's most remote landscapes, travelling from Cairns in Far North Queensland to Broome in Western Australia.

The journey, called Outriding the Fog, has been created to raise awareness of PTSD, resilience, recovery and mental wellbeing while raising funds in support of Black Dog Institute through the Make a Meaningful Moment for Mental Health campaign.

This project is not about setting records or chasing adventure for its own sake. It is about encouraging honest conversations around mental health, particularly among men and people living in regional and remote communities.

Along the way I will share the journey through photography, video and storytelling under my 2WDriven platform, Wild Places. Quiet Minds.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps support Black Dog Institute's vital work in mental health research, education and resources.

Thank you for supporting the journey and helping create more conversations around mental health, recovery and hope.

Trip postponement due to mental health

Friday 17th Jul
I've had to postpone the trip. It's been hard to come to terms with after months of prep. The bike is ready. Route planned, most of the passes I applied for for the Arnhem Land routes - many of which are usually declined - were approved. Wayne Leonard Suzuki in Cairns, official sponsor, serviced the bike ready for the trip. It's taken me a month to be able to anounce it. Then I realised the truth. This is just part of the journey. Outriding the Fog isnt one trip. It's a journey of mental health and mine is as important as anything. Please donate anything you can - no matter how small - everything makes a difference. I have my battles, like many do, but the number of people out there with acute mental health problems is staggering. Thank you. I will be continuing to ride for mental health and posting my rides on my You Tube Channel. Please subscribe to follow the ride and support mental health awareness: www.youtube.com/@2wdriven?sub_confirmation=1
