Mental health is one of the most important things in our lives and society, because it defines us in who we are, and what we do. Sadly, mental illness is a very serious and common issue in our society and usually is discouraged by people who don’t believe it’s a real illness, because there’s no physical harm involved. Obviously, that’s wrong. Mental health impacts physiological well-being, which can impact one’s mood, behaviour, and ability to cope with stress, anxiety, and other issues that affect us all. Currently, 1 in 5 Australians have anxiety or depression, which equates to 5 138 000 people, and at least 2 in 5 Australians will experience a mental disorder in their lifetime (aged 16-85), equating to double the number above. 

That’s why I’m taking the stand to raise the important of mental health, and starting the conversation with people who may be struggling or experiencing mental health issues in their lives. 

Our team is committed to raising as much money as possible to support the Black Dog Institute, who do incredible work for helping people with this issues and encouraging others to join us. We hope to raise at least $5000, but as a pledge to encourage more support, if we as a team can raise $6500, I will dye my mullet in our Halls team colours (Bottle Green and Maroon).
