I'm standing up to join Team Black Dog to turn ground breaking research into life saving action.

Mental illness affects 1 in 5 Australians every year, with the most common being depression and anxiety. Mental illness doesn’t discriminate. It affects people from all walks of life — individuals, families, workplaces and communities.

After growing my hair for the best part of 6 years I have decided to shave my head and donate the hair to those in greater need of it than me.

Prior to that though I would love to raise and donate some funds to go toward the amazing people at The Black Dog Institute and help them continue their work in promoting mental health.

Hey Guys,

Thank you so much to everyone who has jumped on board to support me over the past week. We absolutely flew past the initial $2500 goal and are well on the way to cracking $4000.

The money we have raised goes to the Black Dog Institute and they use it to:

  • Help more health professionals become trained in mental health and more effectively be able to treat their patients with symptoms of poor mental health.

  • Increase understanding within the community about mental health issues, illnesses, signs and symptoms.

  • Reduce stigma toward mental health in the community, encouraging people to share their feelings and talk about mental health issues.

  • Increase levels of help seeking among communities and in particular in young people.

  • Increase access to information and resources about mental health and wellbeing. 

  • Lower rates of depression and anxiety in the community.

  • Ultimately, help in the prevention of young people developing serious, life-limiting mental illnesses.

This Saturday night I will be saying goodbye to the hair that has kept my head warm these past 6ish years. If anyone would like to come watch, potentially trim one of the locks off and enjoy a night out with friends/family, then do not hesitate to click the link for the event page I have created.

We Made It!!!

Hey Guys, 

We made it to my initial goal of $2500!!

I have increased the goal on this page to see how far we can go and how much we can raise for The Black Dog Institute!!

They do so much incredible work in the community for those suffering from mental illness. 

Every little bit donated goes toward training more medical professionals in how to help people presenting with acute or chronic mental health issues.

I will be shaving my head next Saturday (30th July) night at Ballarat's Freight Bar. Everyone is welcome to watch or even just pop past for a drink or two.

For the better part of 6 years I have been growing my hair. 

The 29th of July is the date I have set to shave it all off and donate it to Sustainable Salons in order for them to create and donate a wig to someone in need.

Prior to that I would love to raise as much money for the Black Dog Institute so they can continue their amazing work in promoting mental health and helping people access the support they need at any stage in their lives.
