Sadly, it is known that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are more likely to die by suicide than other groups of people in Australia. We know this statistic all too well, and we want this to change.
That is why in March 2024 we're climbing to Everest Base Camp in support of Black Dog Institute's mental health programs for First Nations peoples. All funds raised will go towards their Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lived Experience Centre. This initiative is the first of its kind in Australia and internationally, and is designed to elevate the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ lived experiences to contribute to the development of culturally safe, trauma-informed services, care, and programs. It's not a physical "centre" but is a workforce of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people all around Australia, working with Black Dog Institute to contribute to research, services, Government policy and more.
