Help us conquer the Peaks Challenge Falls Creek for mental health!
On 9th March 2025, I'll be taking on the most demanding cycling challenge in Australia: the Peaks Challenge Falls Creek. This is the equivalent of a mountain stage in the Tour de France, covering 235km and 4,400m of elevation climbs, and I have to complete all of this in one day in under 13 hours!
I signed up for this challenge back in October - before even buying a bike - and I can already tell this will be one of the toughest things I've ever done. With each pedal stroke, I’m pushing myself to my limits, but there’s a reason I’m doing this: to raise funds for the Black Dog Institute.
Mental illness impacts 1 in 5 Australians every year, with conditions like depression and anxiety having devastating effects. It's something that doesn’t discriminate, and the ripple effect it has on families, friends, and communities is far-reaching. By taking on this massive physical challenge, I hope to support the vital mental health research and services that the Black Dog Institute provides, to help Australians battling mental illness and suicide.

The Route
Thursday 16th Jan
Peaks Challenge Falls Creek is a 235km ride with 4,000+ metres of climbing, set among the backdrop of the beautiful Victorian Alps.
We’ll tackle the ascents of Tawonga Gap, Mount Hotham and finally, ‘The Beast’ that is the back of Falls. The back of Falls will hit us like a tonne of bricks. With 200km in our legs, we'll quickly learn why the first pinch is notorious among past Peaks riders. It’s a steep and relentless climb with little reprieve.
Climb 1: Tawonga Gap
7.5km | 476m elevation | 6% average gradient
Climb 2: Mt Hotham
29.9km | 1,303m elevation | 4% average gradient
Climb 3: Falls Creek
22.6km | 980m elevation | 4% average gradient
