Creating a mentally healthier world
At school I teach a wellbeing subject through an outdoor education lens. One of our senior units has a specific focus on developing mental health literacy. Mental illness doesn’t discriminate. It impacts a significant proportion of Australians many of which won’t seek help. Early mental health awareness in school is a powerful step in affecting real generational change, normalising mental health conversations and dismantling the stigma attached to the black dog.
I’m buzzing off my hair to fundraise for Black Dog Institute and donating my pony tail to sustainable salons. Black Dog Institute aims to create a mentally healthier world through science, compassion and action. My school and many other Australian schools use Black Dog Institute resources to inform our education programs.
Get involved by having regular R U OK conversations (any day of the year!) with friends and family and if you’re feeling up to it, you can give financially to the cause.
