Hugo and Me on a long drive (around Australia)

Help me create a mentally healthier world

I'm standing up to join Team Black Dog to turn ground breaking research into life saving action.

Mental illness affects 1 in 5 Australians every year, with the most common being depression and anxiety. Mental illness doesn’t discriminate. It affects people from all walks of life — individuals, families, workplaces and communities.

Day 5&6

Friday 10th Jul
Day 5 had a bit of a hick up as the phone stoped working and repair shop declared it dead. Lost the past couple of month of photos and updates 😢.  New phone 📱 lots of money 💰 spent and time and we are back on track. Hugo is having a ball playing with other dogs and wondering the beaches. Today was bath time and laundry after a trip to Woolgoolga “Woopi” and meeting the keepers of the Sikh Temple then Emerald beach. Spotted some 🐳 🐬 , even a breaching shark 🦈 that got the surfers out of the water quickly 😛

Day 4

Wednesday 8th Jul
Visited Dorrigo and Bellingen today  a bit rainy but was worth the drive meeting more people and making new friends. On the way back  we stopped at Sealy  lookout an Forest Sky Pier. Met 2 lovely locals running a non for profit coffee stand and selling some local aboriginal merchandise. Hugo made more friends tonight at the camp kitchen. He is no snoring away in bed. Rain drops falling on the ⛺️

Day 2 & 3

Wednesday 8th Jul
Hugo met a fish for the first time, had a swim and has been meeting lots of people and other dogs. This place is heaven for dogs. Weather has been perfect.

Day 1

Sunday 5th Jul
We left Sydney this morning heading North. First stop Kanwal visiting my friend Ishea and family. Big morning tea and a snack to go. Hugo loves the visit and made new friends. We hit the road at lunch time. Hugo slept most of the way and couple stops for a quick pee. Arrived Monee Beach Thai evening and had dinner at the local tavern. Pitch the tent or sleep in the car? Will decide later 😊

Sunday 5th July

Thursday 2nd Jul
Hugo and I are embarking on a long drive around Australia, leaving Sydney on the 5th of July. We are out sending a message to all about The Black Dog Institute creating a world where mental illness is treated with the same level of concern, immediacy and seriousness as physical illness; where scientists work to discover the causes of illness and new treatments, and where discoveries are immediately put into practice through health services, technology and community education. Your generous donations would be greatly appreciated.
