Bob Sheridan's Bike Odyssey 2024

By Robert Sheridan

10 YEARS

Help make 2024 meaningful

After the magnificent experience of Bob Sheridan's Bike Odyssey 2023, its time to launch Bob Sheridan's Bike Odyssey 2024. There are 5 significant rides planned that will enable us riders to raise awareness of mental health and suicide prevention, whilst raising much needed funds for the BDI. The 5 rides are:

 1. Newcastle to Lennox December 31 - January 4. 700kms in 4 days

2. Melbourne to Dubbo via Canberra March 2 - 11. 1400kms in 9days

3. The Darling River Run - Bourke to Wentworth April 14 - 24. 1000kms.

4 Dubbo to Newcastle; 3 days in August. 450kms.

5 On October 30 when I turn 70 I'm planning to ride 100 kilometers.

All money donated goes directly to the BDI.

In 2023 it is a pleasure to see our great country on a bike, however the whole purpose of these rides is to raise awareness of mental health issues and suicide prevention, whilst raising funds for the BDI to continue their important education and research programs. The riding is a great opportunity to raise awareness,  and being able to help others by sharing my journey is what motivates me to complete this challenge and record the adventure. The 2023 ride gave me the opportunity to have many discussions with people on the road; these discussions are really important in reducing the impact of mental health. Me and PTSD look forward to sharing our journey with you in 2024.

WE all strive to help others. Meaning in life comes out of what we do for others; we understand that our prime purpose in life is to help others.

Mental illness doesn’t discriminate – it affects 1 in 5 Australians every year with symptoms like depression and anxiety. In Australia 9 people per day commit suicide; mostly young men. In the age group 15 - 44 the highest cause of death is suicide. These statistics are terrible and the impact can be devastating, not only for those living with it, but for those around them.

That’s why I’m getting active and raising funds for the Black Dog Institute - to support crucial mental health research and support services that help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

Help me create a meaningful moment for mental health as I work up a sweat, all for a great cause.

Please donate now. Thank you.
