Tour of Aotearoa 2026

In March, I’ll be riding the Tour of Aotearoa — cycling journey from Cape Reinga at the very top of New Zealand’s North Island to Bluff at the very bottom of the South Island.

Over the month, I’ll be riding alongside 10 good mates, covering 3,000 kilometres and climbing more than 36,000 metres. The route includes everything from sand and gravel to bush trails, long hill climbs, and sealed roads. On day one, we take on the full length of Ninety Mile Beach!

At 71 — and the oldest rider in our group — this will be a significant physical and mental challenge. But I’m taking it on for a cause that truly matters.

I’m dedicating this ride to the Black Dog Institute; a research and education institute focused on mental health awareness and suicide prevention.

Mental illness doesn’t discriminate. Each year, 1 in 5 Australians experience symptoms of conditions such as depression and anxiety. The impact can be devastating — not only for those living with mental illness, but also for their families, friends, and communities.

That’s why I’m getting active and raising funds to support the Black Dog Institute’s crucial mental health research, education programs, and support services for Australians impacted by  mental illness and suicide.

If you’re reading this, I’d be incredibly grateful if you would consider donating via the link below. Together, we can create a meaningful moment for mental health — one kilometre at a time.

Thank you for your support.
