The UMBC Mental Health Community Challenge Begins
Mental illness doesn’t discriminate – it affects 1 in 5 Australians every year with symptoms like depression and anxiety. The impact can be devastating, not only for those living with it, but for those around them.
We know that sporting clubs like the University of Melbourne Baseball Club are vital, safe community spaces that improve mental health by fostering social connection, belonging, and physical activity.
That’s why we're raising funds for the Black Dog Institute, to support crucial mental health research and support services that help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.
We're proud to have club members of every age and walk of life, and we want to build hope and support the development of resources for the whole community.
Led by our UMBC Mental Health & Wellbeing Working Group, we're taking on a couple of club initiatives this year to build awareness, fight stigma and use our community power to fundraise for a cause.
From club-wide training to club communications and community fundraising, we're going to use our people power to start the conversation about mental health and keep it going for years to come!
Our club members and friends will be taking on challenges of different shapes and sizes throughout June 2026, and we'd love your support.
Please donate and spread the word.
