WomDomNom 2024

Mental illness doesn’t discriminate – it affects 1 in 5 Australians every year with symptoms like depression and anxiety. The impact can be devastating, not only for those living with it, but for those around them.

That’s why Dawesy and Wazza are getting active and raising funds for the Black Dog Institute - to support crucial mental health research and support services that help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

Help us create a meaningful moment for mental health as we work up a sweat, all for a great cause.

Our intrepid paddlers!

Monday 16th Sep
My best mate Pete Dawes and I are doing weekly paddles now in preparation for the WomDomNom. We are probably the only ones doing it in a canoe: I'm in the bow setting the pace and Dawesy is in the stern handling the steering - no slacking off behind my back either!

We are getting out every weekend we can to build up our stamina. We can easily do 5 kph and if the river can contribute 2 kph, then we should be good to get through each day in under 6 hours.

If you can, please donate to our worthy cause, the Black Dog Institute. We know that 45% of Australians will experience mental illness in their lifetime. Every dollar we raise helps change this statistic.

Cheers,
Wazza and Dawsey

Training is starting this weekend

Tuesday 27th Aug
My kayaking companion, Pete, and I are starting training this weekend for the WomDomNom. We are pretty excited to be doing this 4 day paddle down the Macquarie River. It will be quite an adventure.

And we are raising money for the Black Dog Institute, a worthy cause that is focussed on improving mental health for all. Please help out if you can.
