Help me make it meaningful
I have chosen to get moving in March in honour and recognition of the approximately 9 people who die by suicide each day here in Australia. 9K steps a day symbolizes these lives that are lost.
There have been many times where my brain has told me that the best way to ease my pain, overwhelm, numbness or sadness is to become part of these statistics. It is an ongoing, relentless task to get and stay well.
This is something I am constantly working on. But after learning of my Bipolar 2 diagnosis, things are starting to make sense. I am finally on (what seems like) the right medications.
I have been lucky to have the support of our beautiful families and some particularly thoughtful and caring friends.
I want to do what I can to make sure there is support and research so that others can get what they need to stop them from becoming part of these statistics too.
Participating in "Move in March" or donating to this fundraiser will help raise funds and awareness for mental illness through the Black Dog Institute.
