The Long Way Back is more than just a ride, it’s a personal mission wrapped in a national message. One man. One bike. One lap of Australia. But behind every kilometre lies something bigger: a call to break the silence that’s costing us too many lives.
The hardest part about battling mental health isn’t always the fight itself but hiding the fight you are facing inside. It’s getting up every day with a smile that doesn’t match how you feel inside. It’s the crushing weight of silence, of feeling like no one would get it even if you tried to explain.
That silence is where the real damage happens. And it’s where too many of our mates are still stuck, quietly struggling behind brave faces, waiting for someone to notice.
This ride is about making sure they’re not alone.
It’s about rolling into every corner of the country from the big cities to the dusty backroads and sparking conversations that matter. It’s about showing up where the cracks are often deepest, in communities where mental health is still whispered about, if it’s spoken of at all.
Every kilometre ridden is a tribute.
To the mates we’ve lost too soon.
To the ones still here, silently battling.
To the ones who don’t know how to reach out or feel like no one’s reaching back.
The Long Way Back is a reminder that healing isn’t fast or neat. That sometimes the road to recovery is long, winding, and bloody hard. But it’s a road worth taking that no one should have to ride it alone.
Because talking takes guts. Listening takes heart. And silence? Silence is killing us.
So let’s change that.
Let’s take the long way back together and make some noise for those who can’t.

Sticker kit time
Saturday 20th DecShare@the.long.way.back What a way to start the weekend. Got the call from the legends at Teammoto Honda Nerang saying the sticker kit was on and the bike was ready. After a quick browse, a coffee, and the usual completely unnecessary shit talk, it was time to actually look at it. Not gonna lie… I’m bloody stoked. This thing has come together way better than expected and looks friggin’ unreal. Can’t wait to start rolling around and flying the flag for “The Long Way Back”. Huge thanks to Steve and the crew at Teammoto Honda Nerang for smashing this out so quickly, and a massive shoutout to Sam and the team at @skdamoto for absolutely killing the design. Then someone hit me with the big question: “But are you bike fit?” I can lift heavy shit really well … but endurance? Not so great. And now it’s dawning on me… 40+ days in the saddle, anywhere from 300 to 700km a day. Time to get locked in. Last piece of gear for camping has arrived
Friday 5th SepShare@the.long.way.back Last piece of the camping setup has landed, the North Peak sleeping mat (bonus pillow included ). Super easy to pump up with the built-in system, and it actually folds back down into the bag without a fight . Comfort wise… not too bad. Durability? Who Knows. It was on the cheaper side, so maybe not the smartest bit to cheap out on, but worst case we’ll just get a new one at a camping store along the way. Sleeping Bags arrived
Monday 1st SepShare@the.long.way.back New bit of kit arrived. the Denali Capsule 300 sleeping bag! Rated down to 2°C, so it should keep me warm and cosy on those chilly nights out. Just waiting on the sleep mat to arrive, then I’m all set to test the full setup in the wild. Monday 28th JulMid next year the journey begins. (Date to be confirmed ASAP) Just me, a motorbike, and around 15,000 kilometers of open road to cover in around 5 weeks. From bustling city streets to the quiet heart of the outback and everywhere in between, this ride is more than just a challenge. It’s a mission to raise awareness and vital funds for mental health.
