My Burpee Challenge for Mental Health
Every day in Australia, on average 9 people take their own lives. That’s 3,285 people every year — lives cut short, families left behind, and communities changed forever.
This isn’t just a statistic for me. In 2022, I lost my brother James, and in 2025, I lost my mum Linda — both to suicide.
To honour them, and to stand with the thousands of other families who know this pain, I’m setting out to complete 3,285 chest-to-floor burpees in a single day. Each burpee will represent one life lost to suicide every year in Australia.
I’m doing this to raise awareness about mental health and to raise vital funds for the Black Dog Institute, a leading organisation dedicated to research, education, and support for people living with mental illness.
This challenge will be tough — physically and mentally — but nothing compared to the struggle faced by those battling in silence every day.
