14 Days Your Way

Exercising my mood - with my baby!

Starting Monday I’ll be taking on the Black Dog Institute #14DayYourWayChallenge by completing a different physical challenge each day with my 4 month old. My aim is to raise funds for the Black Dog Institute, raise awareness about mental health, and in the process look after my own mental wellbeing.

It is well known that exercise can lift your mood. Those of you that know me will also know that exercise has been a big part of my life (in 2015 I ran the London Marathon for the Black Dog Institute). But at a time where my mental well-being is more at risk due to lockdown and adjusting to life as a first time mum, I’ve really struggled to exercise. The mum’s and bubs exercise classes aren’t running and I haven’t known what exercise I can do with a 4 month old.

Well now it’s time to find out!  Each day my son Freddie and I will try out a new exercise together and find out what we’re capable of.  I’ll post daily updates so you can follow our progress.

Help keep us motivated by donating to Black Dog Institute. And let me know if you have any suggestions of exercises we can attempt!!

Help me create a mentally healthier world

#14DaysYourWay is Black Dog Institute's social connection challenge.

While many of us are heading indoors, it is important that we keep mentally and physically active while staying connected with our friends and family.

Step up, stay connected and support mental health research!

Such a good idea Heidi. In the time like this, it can be hard to get motivated. Also the feeling of isolation with the bub is real! Love this, good on you :)
