Science. Compassion. Action
I'm all ears for Black Dog Institute's Mullets for Mental Health.
1 in 5 of us will experience symptoms of mental illness in any given year. In Australia that’s around 5 million people. And roughly 60% of these people won’t seek help.
For the month of September I will be sporting a mullet and raising funds to show support for mental health research.
Please donate and support my mullet and empower everyone in Australia to look after their mental health.

Seeking help: not always that easy
Monday 30th Aug
The sad fact is that it's not always easy to seek the help that you need. The effects of mental illness can make it frustratingly difficult to find the momentum needed to take action. Mental illness can leave you feeling isolated, unmotivated and tired, and taking action can seem insurmountable.
Add to this social stigma surrounding mental illness, and personal or cultural biases - it can require a very brave step to put yourself out there and ask for help.
I found it hard to find help that was right for me, despite a wealth of information and support around me. Doctors that didn't have enough time to properly assess and refer me and working through counselors that weren't the right "fit". It took time. And energy. And with young kids, it all just felt very hard.
I eventually found the help I needed, but I wish I could have found appropriate support earlier. The Black Dog Institute is Australia's leading medical research body investigating mental health across the lifespan and integrating findings into support services. Please support me to support them to continue the great work they do in creating a mentally healthier world for everyone.
