In memory of a loved one

Mental illness doesn’t discriminate – it affects 1 in 5 Australians every year with symptoms like depression and anxiety. The impact can be devastating, not only for those living with it, but for those around them.

Black Dog Institute is the only medical research institute in Australia to investigate mental health across the lifespan. Their aim is to create a mentally healthier world for everyone.

Your gift will support crucial mental health research and support services that help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

Thank you.

Forever 44

Friday 19th Sep

Ashleigh was larger than life itself. His laugh was unforgettable, the kind that could light up a room and bring a smile to anyone’s face. He had a heart overflowing with generosity and care, more than you could ever imagine. But behind that brightness, he carried demons of his own, quiet battles he kept hidden until, in the end, they became too heavy to bear.

In the end, he became so low, so vulnerable, so lost. When  I found him there and in that moment, there was nothing I could do to bring him back. It is unimaginable, unthinkable, that my brother felt he had nowhere to go to seek support.  If only he had known it was okay to feel that way, that it wasn’t a weakness, that so many of us would have stood beside him. But sadly his pride carried him down a path no one should ever have to walk.

If my walk can help just one person, one family, one life, then I will know that his death was not in vain. Through my steps, his story lives on, not as an ending, but as a light to guide others out of the darkness he faced.
