In memory of a loved one
Mental health has impacted my life in more ways than most people probably realise. Growing up without my dad because of mental health struggles left a hole in my life that I’ve carried for years. It affected the way I saw myself, the way I handled emotions, and the way I connected with people around me.
There were times growing up where I felt lost, confused, angry, and hurt, trying to understand why life had to be the way it was. Watching mental health affect someone you love changes you deeply, especially as a child. It can make you feel alone even when you’re surrounded by people.
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realised how important mental health awareness and support really are. No family should have to suffer in silence, and no person should feel like they have nowhere to turn. The impact mental health has on families, children, parents, and relationships is something that stays with people for a lifetime.
This is why raising awareness and supporting suicide prevention means so much to me personally. I want people to know they are not alone, that struggling does not make someone weak, and that support and understanding can truly save lives.
