My “why”
Hey I’m Tay,
I’m 27 and a mum of a 22 month old boy + 11 week old border collie! I have decided to run this half marathon and raise funds for mental health because it is a cause that is well and truly close to my heart. Personally I’ve struggled with anxiety for many years, as well as extremely challenging postpartum anxiety which I am only just starting to come out of now almost 2 years later. Additionally, I have family members that also really struggle with their mental health and I’ve seen them battle over the years, some days just to get through the day. I am beyond proud of not only my family but also myself for battling with our brains everyday. I took up running to do something for myself postpartum and I trained and ran my first ever 10km race, now I wanted to do something a bit more challenging for my mind and body and make it more meaningful and impactful… hence the fundraiser. If I can help “mental health” in anyway I’d love to.
Remember, mental illness doesn’t discriminate – it affects 1 in 5 Australians every year with symptoms like depression and anxiety. The impact can be devastating, not only for those living with it, but for those around them.
Help me create a meaningful moment for mental health as I work up a sweat, all for a great cause.
Please donate now if you have the means if not just a share would be super helpful. Thank you.
Love Tay 🏃🏼♀️🩷
See you at the finish line 21.1km
