Walking About Talking

As a group of young adults living in Sydney, hardly a week goes by where we aren’t talking of the impact of mental illness on friends, family and those that we care for around us. Seeing this impact is a sharp reminder that mental illness touches people of all ages, no matter their background and often those you least expect.

Our purpose with Walking About Talking is to promote reaching out and connecting with those around you whenever you may be struggling or feeling down. Yes, it’s OK to be struggling mentally, but having a friend or loved one to talk to can be the difference that helps you through that rough patch.

On November 30, we will be walking 50km in silence to raise awareness for just how difficult suffering mental illness can be without being able to reach out and speak to someone.

It’s impossible to truly understand what someone with mental illness is going through, but through Walking About Talking we hope to raise that level of understanding and reduce the impact of those issues on the community and our mates.
