Thanks for popping by. 

Each Christmas myself and the amazing teacher tribe at Movement Collective Pilates love putting on a series of donation based Pilates classes to raise money for a local community charity close to our hearts.

2020 has proved hard for us all and with many taking a step back from our ordinary lives and diving into months of isolation and virtual living. Pilates promotes a healthy and positive mindset & with depression and suicide on the rise due to the challenges of the pandemic we have decided to raise money for the Black Dog Institute. This organisation and what they represent hold a place close to my heart, at the end of 2019, my family and I were faced with the loss of our dear cousin to the silent killer that is suicide. The shock and sadness of this incident shattered us to our core but ultimately brought us closer together and communicating more openly, being more mindful about the importance of mental health as well as creating a willingness for us to connect. In person and online. Something everyone needed a little bit more of this year.

Movement Collective and our team are running a series of online Pilates classes to raise funds and awareness for mental health, We are hoping to smash last year’s total of $2,500.00 which was donated to Blazeaid to rebuild rural communities that were struck by tragedy- notably the 2019/20 catastrophic bushfires. 

We are also hoping to continue to create a sense of connection and community from all over and reminding everyone that you are never alone, even when you feel it the most. 

Classes are set up on our bookings system and website and all money will be donated to Black Dog institute- if Pilates isn't your thing and you have some spare change rattling around in those pockets we are happy to pass it on to this incredible cause.

Wow!

December is upon us how crazy is that? Now we can inhale and exhale some chrissy cheer and goodwill and forget about all the craziness that has beset us all in 2020.  

 
This year has been tough for most of us in some way, some battling with illness, the loss of a job or even a loved one. We have been sent into isolation and lost touch with the real world as we had to rapidly adjust to the new normal. 

Isolation was HARD! whether it was working from home and home schooling a 6 year old, or with house mates/ family members who drive you craaaaaazy, we can't forget about those who did it the toughest.... Alone.
This year's challenges were too much for some of us mentally. We lost many to the virus but we also lost many to suicide. 
At some point in all of our lives we will be confronted with mental illness and suicide and its awful. We also avoid talking about and asking for help when we need it because of the stigma attached to it.  
 
This year Movement Collective studios are running a series of virtual mat classes to raise funds and awareness for the Black Dog Institute. With the decline of mental health on the rise, we are trying to do our bit to help create a mentally healthier world through happy and healthy movement. We believe that movement is key and the benefits of good mind body connection is a great way to create a more positive mindset. We may not be coming together physically but we are hoping to create a sense of togetherness and community across the world by connecting together online.
